My dad fell down some stairs on friday (3 days ago) but at the bottom by the door was a concrete step which he hit his head off. My great grandmother is in her early 80's, she was admitted to hospital with a broken hip. She also has heart complications. I have now heard that she is being given sleeping tablets (an orange tablet if that helps). She has no problems sleeping at all in fact she can sleep for hours! She is slurring her words now and also she has not the strength to even lift a light cup. They are making her use a beaker, and won't take her to the bathroom, instead she has to use a commode. The took out her caffiter (unsure on spelling) and still have not allowed her to put on underwear. I personally see this as abuse of the elderly. I know my grandmother can be rather annoying at times but is it right to give elderly sleeping drugs in hospital? Is there are genuine medical reason for this or is it to make it easier for the nursing team?

Stray cat attacks my cat?

I have 2 cats I used to have 3 but the last time I saw the 3rd cat. The stray was attacking him I ran outside to stop him but they both ran off I haven't seen him since I am convinced the stray scared him off for good. My wife has been diagnosed "Manic Depressive Bi-Polar". She has had this condition for over 13 years. The condition has worsened over the last year. She has spent all of our money and all she does is sleep and leave. I never know where she is because she will not answer phone calls or text until she is almost home. Then she won't talk about it. One sumptom that I have noticed is that she will be "fine" then her speech will start to slur and then her attitude changes, she starts yelling and telling me that I'm control freak and I don't need to know what she does or where she is. She has been arrested twice on theft charges and if I don;t watch very carefully she will take credit cards or the ATM card from my wallet and spend every dollar. The biggest problem is I can't identify on what. I took her name off of our checking account but she took some checks and used them. That resulted in a warrant for her arrest on fraud charges. But since I didn't press charges she was released. Its hard to work and take care of her. My mother has Parkinson's disease stage 2 and my father has cardiac issues and I have all three of them in one house under my care. My wife has been in rehab with limited success and now they are telling me that I have to make a choice. I can put her back into the rehab center or keep trying the weekly visits and meds as they are now. I want her to get better but I just don't know what is best for her. Our daughter means the world to my wife and it bothers me to separate them for such a long time. I could use some advice.

It doesn't take too long to get to the point where you can put it into a pony tail. But here is the trick, if you cut the sides a bit shorter and give the top a "running start" to grow a bit longer...it will get to the point where it is pretty even, rather than like an overgrown mullet. Before it reaches to pony tail length, probably just a hat would be the best option. My son had long hair when he was younger and we usually braided it or had it in a nice long pony tail that reached down to his waist.

I am a sophomore and I go to JLHS High School in North California. I came to JLHS and on January. I came from AB Miller High School down South California. I am sitting here on my bed and I feel like really nauseous. I am not really having troubles breathing, I do have a history of panic attacks but this feel different. What scares me more than anything that when we will die we will probably just cease to exist. im 21 yrs old. I had no development problems as a child. Spoke properly as a kid. Then when I was in school in 6th grade(age 13). I remember being humiliated in class during a reading session. I kept faltering on the word 'municipality'. Guess it was nervousness cause it kept getting worse everytime I read the word. Things were back to normal soon. Then slowly I started developing stagefright. And I realized I found it difficult to say some sentences. I just shrugged it off because I thought It was jus a passing phase becoz of nerves. Now I get very conscious of the way I speak and I notice I slur at times n skip words when I try to speak. Is it a neurological defect? Apraxia? I had a ct scan done and it's normal. I was a forcep baby n I do have a dent on my head on the parietal bone of the skull. Is my speech problem psychological? Sometimes When I form a sentence in my head, I just know tht I'm gonna make a mistake with a particular word. I can pronounce those words individually but when I say it in sentential form I screw up! Like I can pronounce 'metadata' but when I have to say something like... Don't forget to get my metadata book... I slur on the last two words.. I miss out on syllables. What is this and is it neurological or phsycholigical ?

Why do some black people think that light-skinned blacks and multiracials have a superiority complex?

I have a black mother and a multiracial father. My mother has brown skin. My father has a yellowish hue. I inherited most of my father's color. I grew up in a diverse environment and seldom payed attention to race or skin tone. Every now and then I got heckled by a group of black kids because I "acted white". There were quite a few times at church when I got called out because of my skin color. Sometimes it gets a little annoying when I'm at work and I'm explaining to customers what my nationality is. My dad and I have been mistaken for Puerto Rican, Mexican, Samoan (very frequently), Filipino, and for some reason Asian. Sometimes its funny when I'm at the hair salon, which is run by Dominicans, and it shocks all the clients when my mom comes to pick me up and I say 'hi, mom! I'm ready.". There are times when I wish I was dark so I could look like Mom and get the same attention and admiration she does. Can you imagine being in your mother's shadow? All through school my friends would say stuff like " Oh my gosh! Your mom is sooo pretty!" Guys that I had really liked would say stuff like, " Dang! Your mom is FINE! Your mom is hot." I'm in the background thinking " what about me? " I felt really crappy about that. I'm a nice person and down-to earth, but I'm not that much to look at. I'm homely, 5'4 and 176 lbs, big hips, average- size boobs, I just barely have a butt, awful acne, bad scars from acne, and I get really bad dandruff. If I were the dark like my mom, I would probably have one-fourth same charm as her. I wish wasn't light-skinned.

The US and Canadian mental health system treats the mentally ill like inmates yet the gay community is afforded protection from slurs. Whereas the mentally ill aren't even provided protection from excessive force from officers or hospital staff. Where is the fairness in that?

As we know, China has implemented a one-child policy in an effort to control its population. I just read an article that between now and 2050, its population will remain fairly close to 1.3 billion with little change. On the other hand, India will surpass China, and the global population in 2050 will be around 9.4 billion. If the entire world were to establish a one-child policy, then if we look at China's results, it would prevent the world from overpopulating. But we also see negative side effects of the one-child policy. Parents prefer boys over girls, and this would create a gender imbalance. With only one child in the family, the parents will spoil them into little brats. What about a two child policy? This would give parents the opportunity to have one boy and one girl, yet it still helps keep the world from overpopulating. It is of course controversial in matters of human rights, but do you think it is worth it?

there was this guy i had met a few months back throught one of our common friends. she wanted to set us up but both of us said no as we both thought that set ups never work out and both of us closed the chapter. then after 2 months or so we again started talking on my bday as he had wished me thru a text msg. And dats how we started txting each other everyday. In those talking how we boht fell for each other, we both didnt realise....v even met twice throughtout this process. and both the times he treated me really well. The only thing that was very different between us was that he was a hi-shot and a very hi profile person....always clubbing and partying and i am a very simple and homely girl. Then almost 3 weeks back....he got drunk and gave me a call...and confessed all his feelings for me, that he realy likes me and stuff....but he was drunk so i didnt want to confess anything from my side...so i told him to go and sleep and talk to me later. and den from the very next day his attitude changed....just a single call in a whole day and dats it...and den he came to me the next day and told me that he wants a break from all this and stuff. i knew something was wrong...so i told him that things had got preety weird between 2 of us...we were more den frnds and less den couples. so we decided to meet up and talk about it...but then we cldnt meet up and talk...so we spoke on the phone...he wanted to make me stop talking to him, cuz he thought that he would just hurt me...as his drinking always used to irritate me..and he didnt want to get into a relationship and hurt me anymore....i didnt know what to do..so i ended up even breaking the friendship because i was really hurt by the way he way behaved. then after a few days v spoke again...and cleared out everything...and ended up being frnds again...but my behaviour towards him was really rude...and dat was the last time we spoke which was 2 weeks back.what he did was for my good and i know for sure that he isnt a player....he feels that he lost his ex(they had dated for 3yrs) because of his drinking and his some habits. and he feels if we date he is going to **** it up with me also.....i do have a problem with his drinking...and dats the reason i didnt stop him from walking away. but i do feel bad for him more den i feel bad for myself, and i really dont know what to do...at times i feel like calling him up and talking to him and saying him sorry for the way i took him wrong...but that looks despoish...so its best i dont. but this guiltiness is just killing me..and i do care for him...so i really dont noe what to do...should i wait for him?

Emotional Letter to dad?

You are in a tough spot there. I would probably write the letter to my father but I wouldn't give him an ultimatum. People are who they are and you are asking him to change how he is and how he views things to suit you. He won't stop loving you but thinks highly of what the community thinks of your family and how you follow tradition. You are not trying to change your fathers mind but that of your culture. I think your dad is trying to say that a self made man stands a better chance of doing that. Make your way in the world and it will be yours to make.
