Are good looks an asset or a handicap?

I find it as a handicap.Because everytime I achieve anything in my life my friends comment on how easy it is for people to get success who are genetically blessed.I find it insulting especially when it comes from my own friends.I have toiled so hard in my life for every little bit of success.But still I never get credit for it.My bf broke up with me last month because He wanted a homely girl as a wife not an ambitious one.He too made many sarcastic remarks that I have it easy in terms of getting another bf.How do I get over this?
