Why do people think its ok to make fun of Asian people?

Some people laugh, make fun of Asian people because of the way they look and talk. Seriously, that's offensive and racist. Why is that ok? Do Americans not like Asians? If a person said a racist slur towards a black person, everyone would think that would be offensive. I don't understand. When I was in school, kids would make fun of me calling me, "Chinese Girl." Yet there were a few black kids at my school and would never say anything offensive to them because of their skin color. Do people respect black people more than any other race?
