Best way to grow out boys hair...?

It doesn't take too long to get to the point where you can put it into a pony tail. But here is the trick, if you cut the sides a bit shorter and give the top a "running start" to grow a bit longer...it will get to the point where it is pretty even, rather than like an overgrown mullet. Before it reaches to pony tail length, probably just a hat would be the best option. My son had long hair when he was younger and we usually braided it or had it in a nice long pony tail that reached down to his waist.
